Origin: Tlacolula de Matamoros, Oaxaca by artisan and elder Senor Hipolito. 

Material: Made from local “reed” found along the rivers in Oaxaca.

Technique: The reed is cut, dried and pounded flat. Once flat, they are cut in flexible long strips that bend to create the artisans design. 

Dimensions:

  • 1 in H X 3 in W
  • Sold individually. Mug and cup not included. 

Description: These Carrizo rings or rodetes are commonly used in Oaxaca to balance clay pots, gourd cups and copitas. 

Care: Keep dry.

Care Instructions

  • Clay: Rinse and dry a couple times before first use. No dishsoap due to its porous nature.
  • Textiles: Hand-wash only. Line dry
  • Natural Fibers: Keep in a dry place.
