Origin: Santa Maria Tlahuitoltepec, Oaxaca, Mexico. Sierra Mixe.
Material: local clay from Tlahuitoltepec.
Technique: cooked in an open fire kilns in a natural finish with subtle textures and burnt marks adorning its surface. Due to its handmade nature, variations in each piece is part of the artisanal process. This piece is completely unglazed, but due its extensive polish, it comes off as glazed.
Color: Wind, fire temp, debris, and weather all play a role in the finished look. Just like snowflakes, no two pieces are the same.
